It
is true somehow by the statement of some philosophers that the progression of
the nation yields a regressed society. Civilization has been put aside and the society
today tends to be more individualistic rather than live in harmony, peace and
prosperity atmosphere.
Watching a shameful video of two Chinese men
fighting with each other over a silly matter portrayed that Malaysians, or at
least some of us are still lack of humanity. The separation of the society
naturally happens not just between races and religion, but among it too. Does it reflect the campaign ‘Budi Bahasa
Budaya Kita’ by the government few years ago? Why this situation has to happen?
Selfish
is the best word to describe the scenario from the beginning of the video until
the end. Ego and perhaps the need to prove their manliness has brought up the
small situation into a big one and create chaos on the road and traffic.
Living
in a country where it is lived by a multicultural society needs people to be
more tolerance and cooperative to each other. However, greed has slowly changed
the society by killing the relevancy in human being. By a small matter, people
show their true colours and willing to do anything to please their minds and
angers.
Well,
the selfishness of the society not only can be seen with the situation involving
both Chinese men but also by the drivers on the road. Instead of stopping the
fighting, people just slowed down their cars and watched both Chinese men
harming each other with baseball bat. This truly shows that the spirit of
togetherness has eroded from the society.
The
truth is everyone should be blamed for the situation that happens, but somehow
media as the fourth estate has brought huge negative examples to the society
via its tools; television, Internet and newspaper, and in the end, the tendency
to live in peace has diminished. Every single day, media, corrosively shows the
society with deviance acts such as violence and cruelty.
Yes,
we are now living in a place where we are not obliging to our own heritage
anymore. The forgotten East culture can only be seen in the museum, not in the
people today. Well, someday, we might also forget how our religion asked us to
be kind to each other and live together as we are too passionate to fight for
our own satisfaction.
